    Delegation from Taiwan Chung-hua Woman Party Visit Hunan

    On the morning of April 5, a delegation headed by Tu Minghui, chairman of Taiwan Chung-hua Woman Party held a meeting in Changsha with representatives of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government Taiwan Affairs Office, the Women’s Federation of Hunan Province, the Hunan Provincial Civil Affairs Department and members belonging to other sectors of the province. Tu and her delegation arrived  in order to participate in the second Taiwan-based Hunan Descendants Travel to Hunan. The guests discussed the current situation of Taiwan’s women of Hunan origin  and cross-straits marriage.Founded in 2009, the Taiwan Chung-hua Woman Party aims to promote harmonious cross-straits exchange and encourage elites in women. Ms. Tu said, her organization is scheduled to participate in the second Taiwan-based Mainland Model Wives Selection on May 14, 2011.     Taiwan Visitors Increase by 10% During Tomb-sweeping Period

    According to Changsha Frontier Inspection Station, 7,213 passengers and 50 flight arrivals and departure were noted to-and-from Hunan from April 1 to 5, 2011. Among these travelers, Taiwan compatriots coming to Hunan amounted to 1, 815, a year-on-year increase of 10%, and foreign tourists totaled up to 3,543, up by 21% over last year.Many Hunanese offspring’s residing in foreign countries came back to pay tribute to their ancestors or visit relatives around Tomb-sweeping Day this year. This contributed to a traffic peak during this period.In line with the traffic flow, Changsha Frontier Inspection Station introduced special services during the Tomb-sweeping period and improved service efficiency of its special passages. In addition, more passages were opened to ensure smooth passenger flow during rush hours.     The Briefing on Changsha's Tourism Work was held in Beijing recently. Shao Qiwei, head of the National Tourism Administration, attended the meeting and showed full support to the city's development of modern tourism industry.Being the first batch of China's excellent tourism cities, Changsha boasts rich tourism resources.     National Cyclic Economic Experts Survey Miluo

    Cyclic economic experts with Ministry of Environmental Protection and other five ministries and commissions under the State Council conducted a special investigation in Miluo, a county level city, on stepping up the exploitation and utilization of recyclable mineral resources. The city has sped up the transformation and upgrading of cyclic economy through the development of Miluo Cyclic Economy Industrial Park, preferential policies, sci-tech innovation and financing supports. In 2010, the tax revenue created by the cyclic economy in the city hit 670 million yuan, accounting for 61% of the total fiscal revenue of the city. Miluo Cyclic Economy Industrial Park has been listed among the first batch of national demonstration bases of urban recyclable minerals.  Central South Recyclable Resource Market with an area of 50,000 square meters was set up in 2001. Miluo Recyclable Resource Terminal Market was approved as one of the first batch of national pilot areas for cyclic economy four years later.  Hunan's first Recyclable Resource Economy and Administration Center and the first county-level Post-doctoral Center for Flexible Cooperation on R&D have been founded in the city. The two centers aim to back up the R&D of common technology and the expansion of technological renovation of enterprises.     A group of 99 Hunanese will fly to Beijing by charted plane on April 4 to mourn over Chairman Mao Zedong at the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, presenting flower baskets and chanting Yearning of Hunan People, and memoiring people's heroes at the Monument to the People's Heroes at Tiananmen Square.The memorial ceremony is launched by Hunan People's Radio Station, and co-hosted by the Chinese Culture Promotion Society, China Radio International (CRI), Beijing Broadcasting and TV Station, and Hunan Broadcasting System. On March 31, the list of the 99 representatives was made public.     The Working Conference on 2011 Hunan Government Websites Construction was held in Changsha on March 31, 2011. Vice Governor of Hunan Province Han Yongwen addressed the meeting and Assistant Governor Yuan Jianyao presided over the conference.  Hunan will further strengthen e-government construction, and establish unified e-government and office service platform covering the province. Efforts will be intensified for online government services and electronic monitoring system. By 2015, Hunan will strive to realize the full coverage of e-government in administrative departments at all levels and provide online service for 80% of administrative licensing items.  In recent years, construction of government websites has achieved remarkable results. Websites have been set-up among fifty-one departments under the Hunan Provincial People's Government, fourteen municipal and prefectural governments, one hundred and twenty five county and district governments. The governments make public of more information with improved quality.     Hunan Witnesses a Surge of Foreign Tourists

    As the Changsha Frontier Inspection Station revealed on April 4, 99,188 passengers came in or went out of the city during the first quarter of this year, increasing by 16.9% over that of last year. Among the foreign travelers, Korean tourists account for most, followed by America and Australia.  In the first three months, 28,868 travelers from across Hunan and 43,327 passengers from abroad were received, respectively up 7.4% and 78.5% over last year. The top three destinations are Taiwan, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Korea. 22,558 Taiwan compatriots came to Hunan for sightseeing and/or visiting relatives, a year-on-year growth of 5%.  Hunan witnesses a surge of foreign tourists due to two factors. First is that development of tourism industry in Hunan leads to rise of tourists to Zhangjiajie and other resorts.
