    Huangshizhai Put Its New Cableway System Into Operation

    2010-09-03    On September 1, the new cableway system of Huangshizhai in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was officially put into operation. The new cableway features 5 transparent cabins, through the floors of which tourists could enjoy the stunning beauty of Zhangjiajie in an exhaustive view.The cableway system of Huangshizhai, Zhangjiajie has been under renovation since November 2009. The whole project costs CNY 90, 000,000, providing safer, faster and more comfortable cable services to the growing visitors of Zhangjiajie. It has been an important air corridor of the scenic area transporting tourists to the beautiful Huangshizhai.According to Huangshizhai Cable Company, 5 out of 34 of the renovated cables are designed in a transparent style, aiming at providing brand new experiences of panoramic view for tourists. The transparent cable costs the same as the standard cabin, 50 yuan one person for a single trip and 96 yuan for a round trip. Each cabin is with a maximum capacity of five people. At present, transparent cabins and standard cabins are distributed randomly and all the tourists could have a chance of 9% to take the transparent cabins.

    South Korean Media Shoot Scenes in Zhangjiajie

    2010-11-13   Journalists from LIVING TV and POLARIS TV, two South Korean media, gathered in Zhangjiajie City to shoot a scenery film from November 2 to 5, 2010. The opening ceremony of the First China International Culture-tourism Festival was once held in the city. Upon the completion of the film, the gorgeous mountains and water and unique cultural landscape will appear on South Korean television screen. During the shooting period, the two media brought into focus the city’s natural wonders like the Yellow Dragon Cave, Tianzi Mountain, and Yuanjiajie Scenic Spot with different representation techniques. They also photographed Zhangjiajie’s regional culture, such as Miao nationality drum, water wheel, and Tu nationality gourmet, and conducted interviews with some tourists, tourism personnel, and natives in the scenic area. According to Director of the LIVING TV Jae-Sung Lee, Zhangjiajie, known as the paradise on the earth, is popular in South Korea. After the Black Drum Art Company debuted in the Zhangjiajie International Country Music Week and the First China International Culture-tourism Festival, the city’s reputation has been further elevated in South Korea. He believed that more and more South Koreans will look forward to visiting the charming city after seeing the scenery film taken this time.

    International Geological Authoritative Experts Gather in Zhangjiajie

    2010-11-11   The International Workshop on Sandstone Landforms unveiled in Zhangjiajie on Nov.11.It brought together 16 foreign authorities in geomorphology from New Zealand, Poland, UK, Australia, USA, Germany and Japan as well as over 20 domestic experts. They conducted an on-the-spot investigation of the typical landform in Zhangjiajie and listened to the report on Zhangjiajie's geomorphology and its evolution. They also exchanged views over the research methodology and cases concerning malmstone landform from home and abroad, made a comparative analysis of Zhangjiajie terrain and carried out a hot debate on defining the "Zhangjiajie Landform". This conference is bound to further promote the development of Zhangjiajie's tourism industry and the city itself, according to Zhao Xiaoming, mayor of Zhangjiajie.As a rare natural heritage, Zhangjiajie Landform deserves public recognition for its combination of aesthetic and scientific values, said Michael Crozier, president of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG).
