World Natural Heritage World Geopark The First National Forest Park of China
On October 20, the unveiling ceremony of the 5A national scenic area Fenghuang Ancient Town was held in Fenghuang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.
In China's five-tier rating system for tourist attractions, a 5A rating is the highest level in the country's tourist sites rating system. Currently China has 339 5A scenic areas in total, including 12 in Hunan. Being selected as a 5A tourist attraction indicates exceptional overall tourism quality in software and hardware facilities and management services.
In February 2024, Fenghuang Ancient Town Tourist Site was recommended by local government tourist attraction quality rating committees and evaluated in accordance with national standards and regulations by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Fenghuang Ancient Town has met the requirements for a national 5A-level tourist attraction and is granted with a 5A rating.
Fenghuang attracts a steady stream of tourists. The 5A rating has further boosted Fenghuang's cultural tourism development. Fenghuang County released the country's first group standard for the travel photography industry, taking the lead in standardizing its development. So far, Fenghuang Ancient Town is home to more than 1,000 travel photography shops, employing more than 5,000 individuals and generating a comprehensive annual output value of approximately 500 million CNY.
From January to September this year, Fenghuang received more than 17.23 million domestic and foreign tourist trips, generating a tourism revenue of 16.4 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 10.77% and 8.97% respectively.
