Flight HB873 of Greater Bay Airlines took off from Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 8 a.m. on April 16, marking the official launch of the Zhangjiajie-Hong Kong-Tokyo air route.
This marks Zhangjiajie's first route of connecting flights in nearly three years and its 13th international air route inaugurated this year.
Using Boeing 737 aircraft, this route will operate three round-trip flights weekly. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, the flight sets off from Tokyo at 16:05, landing in Hong Kong at 20:15, departing at 21:55, and arriving in Zhangjiajie at 23:55. And every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, the return flight takes off from Zhangjiajie at 8:00, landing in Hong Kong at 10:05,departing at 11:00, and arriving in Tokyo at 16:45. The entire journey from Zhangjiajie to Tokyo takes about 9 hours, with a one-hour stopover in Hong Kong, without changing planes.
To improve the travel experience, Greater Bay Airlines has enhanced overnight flight capacity in Zhangjiajie, providing direct luggage transfer and through check-in services for the Zhangjiajie-Hong Kong-Tokyo flight passengers. With such services, passengers can have their luggage directly delivered from the departing airport to the destination instead of repeating the luggage check-in process during their layovers in Hong Kong, saving on travel time.
The launch of this route brings Zhangjiajie, Hong Kong, and Tokyo closer, fostering in-depth collaboration in cultural tourism, economic trade, and other sectors. The new route is expected to accelerate tourism exchanges and cooperation among the three cities, while boosting sustained prosperity in Zhangjiajie's international tourism market.
