Three treasures and a wonder(三宝一绝) in Zhangjiajie refer to a combination of four local specialties, including natural puerarin powder, fern powder, rock ear hailed as three treasures and the Eucommia Tea, the king of the tea, honored as a wonder of Zhangjiajie.

Fern powder is refined from a wild fern abounding in essential amino-acid needed by human beings and trace elements like Calcium, Ferrum, and Zinc, Selenium etc, which has a high nutritional value. According to the record of Compendium of Material Medica (an authoritive medical book inherited from Ming Dynasty): the fern can serve as a model of lipid-lowering and dieting, beautifying, invigorating spleen and stomach and strengthening the immune system etc. . Moreover, it has a doubled function of diet therapy and nutrition for those who have hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes mellitus

Natural puerarin powder is made from the root of puerarin, which belongs to the perennial cany plant of leguminosae and lives in the deep mountains and jungles. Its functions are as-follows: cleaning heat and detoxicating, relieving internal heat and sobering up, tonifying spleen and heatstroke prevention etc.

Rock ear is located in cliff of quartz sandstone at a elevation of over 1km and sponges off trace elements in rocks. It can be used as a kind of vegetable and an ingredient in stewed chicken and meat soup which are super tonics for Tujia people to improve their eyesight, repose as well as prevent senility. In addition, the rock ear can also function as a sample of diminishing inflammation, nourishing Yin and moistening lung, and replenishing blood and ferric.

Eucommia Tea comes from the tender leaf of eucommia under the method of traditional tea processing. Eucommia Tea has sweet, warm properties. It is associated with the liver and kidneys, and is considered the primary herb used to increase yang functions in the body. Eucommia Tea strengthens the bones and muscles, heals injured and weakened tissues, and can treat lower back and leg pain, stiffness and arthritis.
