    Four Chimpanzees to Spend the Spring Festival in Changsha

    Four Guinean chimps arrived at Changsha Ecological Zoo amidst wind and snow on the evening of Jan.17. They will meet visitors during the coming Spring Festival.The four two-year-old chimps with two males and two females left their hometown on Jan.15 and reached Beijing Capital International Airport on the evening of Jan.16. And they started their journey to Changsha in a truck the very night after the arrival. Changsha Ecological Zoo prepared a large comfortable house which covers an area of 1,800 ㎡.  The house is equipped with the debugged heating system to keep the room between 18-25 C. In addition, outdoor entertainment equipment are also provided, such as swings and resting shelves.     Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Opens in Saudi Arabia

    The Chinese Culture Week---Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition kicked off in King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, on December 25, 2010.The three-day exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the Ministry of Culture and Information of Saudi Arabia, and the Embassy of the PRC in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, undertaken by the Department of Culture of Hunan Province, and co-hosted by the Protection Center of Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage. The exhibition was held in an attempt to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Saudi Arabian diplomatic relations.Ten items of intangible cultural heritage representing the highest level of Hunan's folk arts were on display, including Hunan embroidery, Liling under-glaze colored porcelain, brocade of Tujia minority, silver adornment of Miao minority, and Baoqing bamboo engraving.Considering that Saudi Arabia locates in desert region, the organizers also exhibited sand paintings of Li Junsheng's, a native Zhangjiajie. Each item was exhibited with vivid words introduction and pictures illustration, and real objects. National folk arts masters like Jiang Zaihong, Wang Wending, and Li Junsheng conducted live performances of various skills, such as Xiang embroidery, Changsha palm fiber weaving, and sand painting. Saudi Arabian people and officials showed great interest in those artists' performances, and enjoyed China's extensive and profound folk culture.

    Brocade of Tujia Minority Wins Wide Acclaim from Saudi Arabians

    The brocade of Tujia minority in Longshan County, northwest Hunan Province, was recently on display during the Chinese Culture Week--Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition held in Saudi Arabia.  The visitors from different countries spoke highly of the brocade.  Seven representative heritors of the brocade like Liu Dai's exhibited 29 pieces of works with distinctive features of Tujia minority, including wall hangings, slippers, satchels, scarves, shawls, and costumes.  The brocade gained high praise of local people and officials with its exquisite workmanship, straightforward but simple designs, vivid appearance, and rich patterns.

    Zhangjiajie train operation depot opens 62 wickets during Spring Festival

    It is reported that during the Spring Festival, Zhangjiajie train operation depot, including Zhangjiajie station, Jishou station and Shimenxian station, will open 62 wickets in total to sell train tickets.On January 26th before, Zhangjiajie station will increase 8 wickets, Jishou station will increase 8 wickets, Shimenxian station will increase 2 wickets. Totally 37 wickets to sell train tickets.In additon, it will open 14 train ticket agencies and 25 wickets outside of the stations.By the expected increasing of passenger flow volume during the Spring Festival, the railway staffs are conducting proactive preparation so as to ensure a safe and sound journey for the passengers.
